Darren Ivy

Senior Policy Analyst

Darren Ivy joined the Platte Institute in May of 2008 as a Senior Policy Analyst. Darren, a native of Columbus, has been working as a journalist since 1996 and has written for the Columbus Telegram, Grand Island Independent, Omaha World-Herald and Arkansas Democrat-Gazette before moving back to Nebraska in 2004 to take on ownership of the Clay County News in Sutton.

Darren and his wife, Cassandra, currently are the co-owners of Ivy-Rose Publishing Inc., which publishes the Blue Hill Leader, Clay County News and Doniphan Herald newspapers. They have two children, Josephine, age 5, and Brooklyn, 2 1/2.

Darren's passion throughout his career has been in-depth and investigative journalism. Several of his stories in Arkansas were recognized nationally by the Associated Press Sports Editors for excellence in investigative journalism. Another project resulted in the publication of the book, "Untold Stories, Black Sports Heroes Before Integration," which Darren authored.
